Taksim Surp Harutyun Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the 90th anniversary of the LUSAVORICH choir with a sacred sacrament at the Surp Yerortutyun Armenian Apostolic Church in Beyoğlu on Sunday (September 22nd). Armenian Patriarchal Locum Tenens Bishop Sahak Mashalyan he presided the ritual.
The celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Lusavoric choir and the commemoration of the 6th Anniversary of Archbishop Şahan Sıvacıyan’s death took place in the Surp Yerortutyun Armenian Apostolic Church in Beyoğlu, accompanied by prayers and hymns.
Armenian Patriarchal Locum Tenens Bishop Sahak Mashalyan presided over the mass which started at 10.30, where Archpriest Kirkor Damatyan, Deacon Vahram LÜLECİ offered the Holy Sacrement.
The priest Vazken Karayan, who was in charge of the American Armenian Church, attended the ceremony as a guest.
Following the sermon of Bishop Mashalyan on the Bible reading of the day, another ceremony was held for Arab Demirci, Arda Kılıç and Emil Özçelik who received 4th range as psalmist and Tatyos Karapekmez received the senior range as psalmist from Bishop Mashalyan.
After the Holy Communion was distributed, Hokehankist prayers were read for the souls of dead people sleeping in the Lord, Archbishop Şahan Sıvacıyan, who passed away six years ago and the executives and clergy who contributed to the choir of Lusavorich.
During the ritual, the Lusavorich chorus performed hymns under the conduct of Hagop Mamigonyan.
After the ceremonies in the church, the crowd of faithful people went to the Naregyan hall. Here, the Lusavorich Choir’s dinner table was held.
The crowd filled the hall and had a pleasant time with Armenian songs performed by the Lusavorich choir. Şant Çakmakçı and conductor Hagop Mamigonyan, who took the floor in turn, gave speeches about the choir’s history, present and future. They stated that they formed a children’s choir and that Hrant Çizmeciyan is the conductor.
At the end of the meal, Bishop Mashalian and the Board members cut a cake with the choir logo on it in memory of the 90th year of chorus.
In his closing speech, Bishop Mashalian commemorated all the chorus members of the past and presented his congratulations to all the current ones.
