The successful Dragos Musical Association named one of its choirs “Nicomedia”.
The city of İzmit whose the ancient name was Nicomedia is in preparation for hosting musical events. The Dragos Musical Association who gave concert for the occasion of the Saint Barbara’s commemorative days, named one of its 6 choirs as Nicomedia Tolerance Ensemble.
THE CHOIR WILL CONSIST OF 35 PEOPLE
The branch of Nicomedia Tolerance Ensemble of the Dragos Musical Association which is founded in 2011 in Istanbul and through its repertory in Turkish, Syriac, Armenian, Hebrew and Greek songs gave concerts in 21 countries, is supposed to consist of 35 people. The representative of the Çekül Association Numan Güllşah and the maestro of the choir Sedat Taştanoğlu did a joint press statement and said that the choir will sing in 30 languages of Anatolia, including the Armenian, Syriac, Hebrew and Greek.
IN THE MEMORY OF THE DECREE OF TOLERANCE
The representative of the Çekül Association in Kocaeli, Numan Gülşah stated “we named the choir “Nicomedia”, because 1707 years ago an imperial decree of tolerance was stipulated in Izmit. The Nicomedia Tolerance Ensemble will give its first concert at the 1st International Dance and Music Festival in Dragos, which will take place between 24 – 28 April 2018. Then our choir will go to perform in Bucharest and Tiflis.”
