On the 12th anniversary of the death of Reverend Andrea Santoro who was killed on February 5, 2006, at the Santa Maria Catholic Church in Trabzon, the police came and found the explosive.
According to the Cumhuriyet Newspaper, the event took place in the morning of Ferbuary 5th at the Santa Maria Church in Iskenderpaşa Mahallesi. The church officials called the police for the object they thought was explosive in the garden. During the inspection, the police found a torch-shaped object. When a part of the body of the explosive was burned, the object did not explode. The crews examined the church’s security cameras to determine the suspicious. However, it has been not determined.
It is stated that the investigation started about the incident.
Oguzhan Akdin, the killer of the Catholic Parish Priest of Trabzon Fr. Andera Santoro, had been sentenced to 18 years and 10 months imprisonment in 2006 for his murder trial, and was released in 2016 as he completed the execution period.
