The “Commemoration of the Dead”, held on the second day of November each year, was held last weekend in the Latin Catholic Church of İskenderun. After the ceremony, the cemetery was visited and the graves belonging to the relatives of the members of the community were blessed one by one.
Iskenderun Latin Catholic Church hosted on 2 November the Commemoration of the Dead Rite, led by the parish priest Dariusz Dogondke Dariusz. After praying for the peace of the dead, the members of the congregation went to the cemetery together with Father Dogondke .
Father Dogondke first did a short prayer at the Christian cemetery, then visited the tombs one by one with the congregation members and prayed and blessed the tombs with holy water.
The Latin Catholic Church celebrated the All Saints’ Day on November 1, and the the Commemoration Day of the Dead on November 2. On this day, the cemeteries are visited and special prayers are made for the dead. (SAT-7 TÜRK / İlyas Edip TERBİYELİ-İskenderun)
