Ara Güler, the famous photojournalist who passed away, was buried in Şişli Armenian Cemetery with a ceremony held in Beyoğlu Holy Trinity Armenian Church on Saturday, October 20th.
The public ceremony was held in front of Galatasaray High School where the Spokesman of the Presidency of Republic Ibrahim Kalın, Vice President of Republic Fuat Oktay, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Mayor of Beyoglu Ahmet Misbah Demircan, AKP Spokesman Omer Celik, CHP spokesman Ahmet Hamza Çebi participated.
The funeral liturgy was led by Armenian Apostolic Bishop Sahag Maşalyan, the President of the Spiritual Counsel of the Patriarchate. Archbishop Aram Atesyan, the Patriarcal Vicar of the Armenian Apostolic Church, deacons, chorus, the representatives of different churches, MPs, Armenian community leaders, artists from cinema and theater world attended the ceremony.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s condolence message was read by Rev. Fr. Tatul Anuşyan and the ceremony ended with the Bishop Sahak Maşalyan’s sermon. Then Güler’s body was buried in Şişli Armenian cemetery.
