The feast of Christ Jesus’ entrance to Jerusalem (the Palm Sunday) was celebrated yesterday with a splendid mess held in the Iskenderun Annunciation Catholic Church. The mess was led by the Parich Priest Rev. Lucian Abalintoaiei, accompanied by Father Julius Ohanele and Father Alexander.
Palm Sunday which is celebrated one week before the Easter and which reminds Jesus Christ’s entrance to Jerusalem, is celebrated in Iskenderun with a magnificent mass in the Catholic community.
During the mass which started at the church yard, the olive branches were blessed and distributed to the members of the congregation. Then, the priests and members of the congregation walked through the garden with olive branches and flowers, then entered the church. Father Abalintoaiei, who preached, emphasized the importance of peace and brotherhood.
The Catholic community will celebrate Easter Sunday this weekend. Orthodox Christians will celebrate the Feast of the Entrance to Jerusalem on next Sunday.
