The “Olive Branches-Palm Sunday”, which commemorates the Entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem, was celebrated with a ceremony held at the Annunciation Latin Catholic Church in Iskenderun last Sunday. While Monsignor Paolo Bizzeti, the Anatolian Apostolic Vicar and Bishop, was conducting the Holy Mass, the priest of the church, Dariusz Dogondke, also accompanied Bizzeti.
In the ceremony that started in the garden of the church, first, the olive branches prepared were blessed and then distributed to the members of the congregation. Under the leadership of Monsignor Bizzeti and Father Dogondke, members of the congregation entered the church, holding olive branches and flowers, singing hymns. In the continuation of the ritual, the process of the capture, trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ was read in parts from the Bible by the Father and three members of the congregation.
The members of the congregation, who participated in the service where prayers were said and Holy Communion was established, shared the great enthusiasm experienced by participating in the hymns sung by the church choir.

After the Palm Sunday, which was held with the participation of a group of believers from Italy as well as the Iskenderun community; the Catholic Community, which entered the “Holy Week”, will celebrate the Easter (Resurrection) Feast this weekend (Saturday).
