In the Latin Catholic Church in the İskenderun, which is a district of Antioch, the first Eucaristic celebration of the new liturgical year was held last Sunday, led by Mgr Paolo Bizzeti, the Apostolic Vicar of Anatolia. The Advent period which is an important liturgical time and has special traditions endures four weeks.
Duringthe celebration Bishop Bizzeti said: “After this preparation period, we willcelebrate the Christmas, the coming of Jesus Christ. Spiritually and physically, we are living a very important period of devotion to God. The coming of Jesus Christ is a great blessing for those who believe in him. We must accept him with all our hearts. In this holy period of Advent, let us beg our God to fill our hearts with the Holy Spirit.”
The Feast of Christ the King Celebrated
The Feast of the Christ the King in Iskenderun was celebrated last Sunday. This ceremony, which was held one week before the Advent period, was the last celebration of the Catholic liturgical calendar. The Year A was completed with this celebration.
