Chief Rabbinate of Turkey and the Turkish Jewish Foundation organized the “Hanukkah-Feast of Lights” celebration which was held in the central district of Antioch. The Governor of Hatay Rahmi Dogan, Hatay Mayor Assoc. Dr. Lütfü Savaş, Hatay Mustafa Kemal University Rector Hasan Kaya and opinion leaders in the district attended the celebration.
Mayor of Antioch Metropolitan Municipality Assoc. Dr. Lütfü Savaş who celebrated the feast of the Jewish citizens on the meaningful days of praying for peace said: “We are united with every color of the city of civilizations, Antioch. This spirit of unity that makes us all happy will continue as long as the world turns. I hope that the peace climate of Antioch will be an example for the whole world.”
Samandağ Mayor Nehir Celebrates Hanukkah Feast
Samandağ Mayor Mithat Nehir also celebrated the “Hanukkah– Feast of Lights” with a message. In the message of the Mayor Nehir he stated: “Every holiday in Antioch has a different meaning, a different excitement and a different color. The multicultural environment of Antioch strengthens further the culture of peace ,brotherhood, tolerance and coexistence. It is the enthusiasm of holidays which makes our culture of living together lasting and meaningful. I would like to congratulate the entire Jewish world for the Hanukkah feast, with the wish that the brotherhood and peace atmosphere of Antioch will be an example to the whole world.”
