The “Christmas Tunes” program of the Pera Resurrection Church, which is held regularly every year, was released as the “Christmas Lament” on 20 December 2020 at 20:00 on the Youtube page of the Pera Resurrection Church due to the difficult conditions this year.
Kayra Akpınar from Pera Resurrection Church, who made the opening speech of the program, said, “This is the year we experience the bitterness of Christmas. Although the celebrations we are used to are not possible, we cannot find the feeling in us to celebrate because we see the pain and difficulties next to us. At the same time, Christmas itself is actually a fact that contains such bitterness.
That’s why, as Pera Ressurection Church, we wanted to offer you a lament consisting of melodies, Bible readings and prayers. It is a reproach, a call to God to “come”, a cry in the face of pain, a lament that is the journey of hope brought by God’s response by his embodiment and holding on to His promises. In this period, we wish that it will articulate your prayers and feelings, and hope that the hope that comes with nativity will comfort your hearts today, ”he said.
The hymns Don’t Be Late Come Immanuel, Let Human Become Silent, Who Is This Child ?, That Night, and finally, Don’t Be Late, Come Again, were performed by soloist Kayra Akpınar.
After each hymn, verses from the Bible for Christmas were read by Senem Akhan Ekener and Melih Ekener.
