The construction work of the Mor Efrem Syriac Ancient Orthodox Church continues in Yesilkoy, Istanbul. The building, whose rough construction has been completed, will be the first Syriac church built in the history of the Republic.
The groundbreaking ceremony of Mor Efrem Syriac Church in Yeşilköy was held in 2019 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The construction process of the church is managed by the Istanbul Syriac Ancient Foundation. There is serious progress in electrical and mechanical installations. The exterior cladding is about to be completed. Most of the aluminum joinery and glass windows were placed.
Dome and Bell Tower Assembling
The church was built on an area of 4,400 square meters. The total area of the 7-floor building is 1,500 square meters. The dome and bell tower installations of the 25-meter-high church continue.
The church will include a cultural hall and main event halls. The church is planned to be completed within the year with donations from the Syriac community. (trtnews)
