Armenian Patriarch of Turkey Sahak II visited Ecumenical Patriarch Bartolomew in his office on Tuesday, February 8th. Deputy Patriarch Senior Father Krikor Damadyan, Interchurch Relations Officer Senior Father Drtad Uzunyan and Patriarch Sahak II’s assistant Father Shirvan Murzyan attended the congratulatory visit. On the evening of Thursday, February 10, the 30th anniversary of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s Patriarchate was celebrated.
Patriarch Kadasetli Sahak II and the accompanying delegation first visited the Ayios Georgios Patriarchate Church and prayed.
During the visit, which was postponed due to the pandemic, the two Spiritual Leaders celebrated the New Year, the Holy Nativity, and exchanged views on inter-church relations.
Patriarch Bartolomes presented a scepter to Patriarch Sahak II in memory of this visit and thanked him for his kind visit and made good wishes for the Armenian Community. His Beatitude the Patriarch Sahak II also thanked for the hospitality shown and left the Fener Greek Patriarchate.
Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s Patriarchate
In this context, a documentary film prepared for Patriarch Bartholomew was screened in the Taksiarhis Church hall in Arnavutköy on Thursday, February 10.
Representing the Patriarch of the Armenians of Turkey Sahak II, the Priest Hovagim Seropyan, the Syriac Ancient Patriarch’s Deputy Metropolitan Mor Filüksinos Yusuf Çetin, the Latin Catholic community spiritual leader, Bishop Monsignor Massimiliano Palinuro, the Chief Rabbi of the Jewish community Rabbi İshak Haleva, USA. Istanbul Consul General Daria Darnell, Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his wife Dilek İmamoğlu, metropolitans and academics attended.
After the welcome speech, Metropolitan Athenagoras and the Chairman of the Board of the Church Foundation each made speeches and expressed their happiness for celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
After the speeches, the first screening of the film was held. The participants witnessed the important visits and trips of the Ecumenical Patriarch during his thirty-year patriarchate.
Patriarch Bartholomeos, who made an emotional speech after the screening, thanked all the participants.
