The Holy Cross, called “Haçverast”, which celebrates the recapture of the “Holy Cross” in 630, on which Jesus Christ was crucified, from the Persians and is one of the five great feasts, was celebrated by the Armenian Catholic churches on Sunday, September 26.
The feast, which means “the liberation of the Cross from captivity, its exaltation and its re-glorification”; This year, the Istanbul Armenian Catholic Community celebrated with enthusiasm with the services held in Taksim Surp Hovhan Vosgeperan Church, Büyükdere Surp Boğos Church and Kadıköy Surp Levon Church.
In the consecration made with basil leaves according to the tradition of the Holy Cross Festival, a limited number of participation was made due to the pandemic measures, while the traditional sharing meal given after the ritual was not held as in previous years.
