The new members of the Foundations Assembly, the highest decision body of the General Directorate of Foundations, have been elected. For the first time in a new period, a Jewish member will serve as the “Representative of Minority Community Foundations”.
The final results of the election of members of the Board of Trustees in 4th Term, which took place in Ankara last weekend, were announced on the website of the General Directorate of Foundations.
For the first time, a Jewish member will serve as “Representative of Minority Community Foundations” in the Foundations Assembly.
The Representative of Minority Community Foundations is the spokesman of 7 minority community groups such as: Greeks, Armenians, Jews, Syriacs, Chaldeans, Bulgarians and Georgians. According to the consensus regarding the determination of candidates, Mr. Moris Levi was elected from Jewish community for this term.
In the elections held in Ankara on December 24th, Moris Levi took 117 votes of the total 121 votes and was elected for a period of two years.
Representing 167 community foundations in Turkey, Mr. Laki Lingas from the Greek Community has been elected twice for this duty in the past; then Dr. Toros Alcan from the Armenian Community took this task in 2015. There are 15 members in the Foundations Assembly.
