Within the scope of the 24th Istanbul Theater Festival organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), the “Gomidas” show took place at the Kumkapı Surp Vortvots Vorodman Church.
Within the scope of the 24th Istanbul Theater Festival organized by İKSV, “Gomidas” written by Ahmet Sami Özbudak came to life in the voice and body of actor Fehmi Karaarslan.
Addressing the audience from the mental hospital in Paris, where Gomidas spent his last years, the show met with the audience at the Surp Vortvots Vorodman Church in the Kumkapı Surp Asdvadzadzin (Virgin Mary) Patriarchal Church on November 27 and 30. The Lusavoriç Choir, which has performed the Gomidas dramas many times before, performed the great composer on the theater stage under the direction of their conductor Hagop Mamigonyan. The second of the shows performed with an unusual seating arrangement was staged in French with the translation of Yiğit Bener and Serra Yılmaz.
While the immortal memory of the great composer Priest Gomidas was glorified on the stage with such a meaningful collaboration, the exhibition entitled “My heart is similar to those ruined houses, the life and music of Gomidas Vartabed” by “Gallery Once Upon a Time” was visited in the foyer area.
At the end of the show, actress Fehmi Karaaslan thanked all those who contributed.
Gomidas will be staged in Kumkapı Surp Vortvots Vorodman Church on January 29-20-31.
