Under the auspices of the Archbishop of the Armenian Catholic Church in Turkey and Emeritus Professpr Levon Zekiyan, the Ortaköy Lusavoric Foundation Research Society organized an international conference entitled “Ottoman Empire and Armenians in the Global Context: Culture and Economy”.
A large number of academics from Turkey and abroad attended the conference held at Istanbul Bilgi University. Among the speakers there were historian İlber Ortaylı from Galatasaray University, Mehmet Genç from İstanbul Şehir University, Edmund Herzig from Oxford University, historian Raymond Kevorkian with the Légion d’honneur from the University of Paris VIII Vincennes-Saint-Denis, Halil Berktay from İbn Haldun University, Elçin Macar from Yıldız Teknik University, Arus Yumul and Bulent Bilmez from Istanbul Bilgi University.
An intense audience attended the two-day conference where simultaneous translations in English, French and Turkish provided.
