The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is traditionally celebrated on September 14 on the same date each year.
Fragments of the Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified were found by the Byzantine Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena, in searches made near Jerusalem in 325 BC.
For this reason, this holy event is celebrated with rituals on September 14 every year in all Orthodox Churches.
In the ceremony held in Mersin Orthodox Church, the Holy Cross was raised on a tray decorated with basil leaves by making a prostration ceremony. Basil leaves, consecrated at the end of the ritual, were distributed to the congregation participating in the ritual. The Spiritual Leader of Mersin Greek Orthodox Church Father Coşkun Teymur conducted the Holy Mass, which was performed with a large participation. (MERSİN)
