National athlete Abdullah Öztürk, who defeated his South Korean rival Kim Young-Gun 3-1 in the men’s table tennis (Class 4) final of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, won the gold medal in the Paralympic Games for the second time in a row.
In table tennis men’s singles, (Class 5) Ali Öztürk won the bronze medal by losing to the last Paralympic champion Chinese racket Ningning Cao in the semi-finals.
Bahattin Hekimoğlu won the bronze medal in the archery men’s roller bow W1 category at the Paralympic Games.
Nesim Turan lost to South Korean Kim Young-gun in the semi-finals and won the bronze medal in the Paralympic Games table tennis men’s singles (Class 4).
Abdullah Öztürk, and Ali Öztürk, who are also brothers, Bahattin Hekimoğlu and Nesim Turan were guests of the “Overcoming Obstacles” program presented by Birtanem Candaner, which was broadcast on SAT-7 TÜRK before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In para table tennis, Abdullah Öztürk defeated South Korea’s Young Gun Kim 3-1 in the C4 singles final and became the champion of the Paralympic Games for the second time in a row after Rio 2016, and brought our country the first gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
With this success, Abdullan Öztürk became our second athlete to become the champion of the Paralympic Games in a row, after our para weightlifter Nazmiye Muratlı. Abdullah made his name in history as the 3rd athlete to achieve this by winning his 3rd medal in total.
Ali Öztürk, who has an individual gold and bronze medal at the European Championships and a gold medal at the World Championship, added his first individual Olympic medal to his career as a bronze in 2020 Tokyo. The Turkish athlete had won a bronze medal in the team category in 2016 Rio.
