Pentecost Celebrated in Armenian Churches

The feast of “Hokekalust”, the day of the descent of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost), was celebrated in Armenian churches on Sunday, May 23.

High Priest Tatul Anuşyan, who has been receiving treatment at the Surp Pırgiç Armenian Hospital for a long time and delighted with the recovery process, performed the “Sacred Offering Rite” at the ceremony presided over by the Patriarch of the Armenians of Turkey Sahak II, which was held closed to the public in the Patriarchate Central Surp Asdvadzadzin Church. he performed.

The spiritual training areas of the Patriarchate served the Lord’s Supper.

Members of the Patriarchate Armaş Choir sang the hymns at the ceremony in which the Priests and Fathers of the Patriarchate were present.

During the service, High Priest Tatul Anusyan traditionally recited the wishes of Surp Ohan Vosgeperan (Saint Gold-Mouthed Ioannis). Later, Patriarch Sahak II spoke the sermon of the special day for the feast of “Hokekalust” in Armenian and Turkish.

Some titles from the Turkish sermon are as follows:

“Waiting for God is more important than praying to God”

“My dear brothers and sisters, today we are doing this without people, like Pentecost, the feast of the coming of the Holy Spirit, and many other holidays. However, this does not prevent us from experiencing the joy of these holidays. If we understand the holiday, its meaning will be deeper for us.

We cannot be renewed without the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enlightens and comforts us. It comes to us at our baptism and begins to live in us. At our baptism we receive the sonship of God the Father, the heirship of Jesus Christ, and the grace of being the temple of the Holy Spirit.

What are you waiting for when you come to the church? What are you waiting for when you open and read your holy book? Do you have a faithful expectation? If you do not have a faith-filled expectation, nothing will come to you…

My dear brothers and sisters, waiting for God is more important than praying to God.

Pentecost tells us to wait for the Holy Spirit, wait for God and do not leave until He comes. Do not do anything in the name of God before he comes, you will not succeed anyway. Let God enter you, let the Holy Spirit enter you.

The lie is that God made us wait too long, the lie is that God is too late. We do not want with all our heart, we do not know what we are looking for.

There is no other way to renew sinful people either, the fire of God must enter into them. When that fire enters, no sin can withstand it, that person is renewed. The second symbol of fire is love.

We, dear brothers and sisters, will receive the Holy Spirit into us and He will be our paradise. When the Holy Spirit enters us, it first cleanses us.

Man’s lips are unclean to speak of God. This fire cleansed their lips. So, if you want to test for the presence or absence of the Holy Spirit in your life, think about the swearings, curses, insults you have made for other people throughout the day. The Holy Spirit has not touched you. For praise rises from the lips touched by the Holy Spirit.

120 people spoke 120 languages. What is the symbol of this? The Holy Spirit unites the divided humanity into Jesus Christ.

We have a divided humanity that is hostile to each other. Man has become man’s wolf. Pentecost says that if the Spirit of God comes then you become brothers. You speak the same language of praise. And God loves you all, respects all your language, deserves praise in all your language.

My dear brothers and sisters, when the Holy Spirit comes, it creates a feeling of peace and well-being in us. We begin to make peace, first with ourselves, then with the people on our right and left, then with nature. Why? Because we are at peace with God. When you are reconciled with God, everything begins to serve you as well as in the service of God. A person who does not reconcile with God can become the enemy of everything.

May the power of the Holy Spirit be upon you. May the Holy Spirit be an umbrella to you, invite all of you and invite you to his colorful world. May the Holy Spirit be your Heaven, Amen.”

After the sermon, the Holy Bread (Communion) was distributed. The ritual ended with the blessing of Patriarch Sahak II.
