The “Sacred Oil Rite” was held on Holy Wednesday Evening at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Iskenderun. At the end of the service, the consecrated oils were distributed to the congregation members.
Starting Holy Week, Orthodox Churches perform Pre-Easter Rites of Passion. In this context, Church Fathers Dimitri Yıldırım and Yusuf Nicholas Papasoğlu conducted the Consecration of Oils ceremony held with the participation of the congregation in the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Iskenderun.
Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Father Dimitri Yıldırım, who also gave a sermon at the ceremony in which seven chapters from the Bible were read, talked about achieving spiritual and physical healing in his statement about this special rite. Yıldırım also talked about the healing properties of the oils consecrated in the ritual.
In the ritual performed, after the reading and prayers, the oils were consecrated and these consecrated oils were applied to those who attended the ceremony. Oils and wheat grains prepared in small bottles were also distributed to the members of the congregation to be taken to their homes in order to bring blessings and healing.
