Syriac Orthodox Community’s Metropolitan Yusuf Çetin Visited The Mayor Of Istanbul Ekrem İmamoğlu

The head of the Syriac Orthodox Community, Metropolitan Yusuf Çetin, visited the Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem İmamoğlu and congratulated him. Imamoglu said: “We want Istanbul to be the capital of the tolerance. If we do this, the world’s view over us will change completely.”

The Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan Yusuf Çetin and his accompanying delegation paid a congratulatory visit to İmamoğlu. Çetin said: “We wish you success in your new assignment. We pray for this. You visited our church during the Feast of Nativity, and we thank you for that. The mayor is the spiritual father of a city. He should embrace and love everyone in the city regardless of faith and ethnicity; and he should extend his help without discrimination. It is a very sacred task. You really deserve this mission. I hope you will make nice investments for our Istanbul. We support you with both our prayers and our efforts. There is only one Istanbul in the world. As Napoleon said, if the world was the only state, the capital would be Istanbul. This is a great honor.”

Imamoglu answered: “Istanbul is a very special city. In our mandate as the Mayor of this city, we have a lot of work to do on current issues and services. Our priority is the residents of Istanbul. This is why we need everyone’s contribution, knowledge and experience. We are very desirable for Istanbul to enter a period of joint management in every aspect. No one should feel outside during the mandate of our team. All the residents of Istanbul are the winners of this election. All the residents are the owners of this town. Every penny of this municipality is the money of every citizen in Istanbul. We will manage each service with this understanding.”
