Armenian Patriarchal Locum Tenens Bishop Sahak Maşalyan met with residents of the Kınalıada island in the garden of St. Gregory the Illuminator church on the evening of Friday, August 2.
The meeting took place with the participation of Fr. Harutyun Damatyan, the church’s clergyman; Father Zaven Bıçakçı, the clergyman of Ortaköy church; Kınalıada Church Direction President Levon Shadyan; representative people from some foundations and institutions of the Armenian community, as well as other people from other islands and Istanbul – with a total of 300 community members. The meeting which was moderated by Sayat Delice, started with the brief resume of Bishop Maşalyan. Bishop Maşalyan, who answered the questions from the public in a humorous manner, explained the developments in the 85th Patriarch election process.
Answering a question about what he would have done if He would be elected as patriarch, Maşalyan stated that the election process has started but the candidates have not yet come to the stage of determination, and it would not be fair to answer, because this conversation is not an election propaganda, it is an ordinary public gathering, so he can answer this question only after the candidates are clarified.
