The Feast of the Name of Jesus Christ is celebrated in all the Armenian Catholic Churches, on January 1st, 2018.
The celebration took place in the oldest Armenian Catholic church in Galata, Holy Savior (Surp Pırgiç) Church and it was led by the Armenian Catholic Archbishop of Turkey, Mgr. Levon Zekiyan at 17:30. It was also the first mass of the year and the Day of Prayer for the World Peace. Samatya Anarad Hığutyun Armenian Catholic Parish Priest Rev. Abraham Fıratyan and Archdeacon Hagop Minasyan co-celebrated with Archbishop Levon Zekiyan.
Bernard Sarıbay, Chairman of Surp Agop Foundation, and Ümit Kuyumcu, one of the members of the Administration Board have also participated to the mass. After the ceremony, new year cakes were shared and a cocktail was offered to the congregation. The celebration was animated by the chorus of the Taksim Vosgeperan Armenian Catholic Church under the direction of Maestro Zaven Agay.
