The Week of Prayer for the Unity of Christians Continues in Izmir

The week of prayer for the unity of Christians which started last week at the Hagia Photini Greek Orthodox Church on Thursday, continues in Izmir every day with a celebration in a different church. On Monday, the leaders and communities of the different church of Izmir came together at the historical Baptist Church in Buca. The community of the Buca Baptist Church welcomed the guests with a cocktail they prepared. The celebration continued with reading of Bible by the different Protestant church leaders in Turkish. Two carols in Persian were also sung. The sermon was given by Pastor Ertan Çevik who is the leader of Buca Protestant Baptist Church. In his sermon he emphasized the importance of obeying the word of God. The ceremony ended with the sharing and blessing of the parish priest of the Latin Catholic Church of Buca. After the ceremony, a warm soup was offered and the participants found the opportunity to meet and chat.
