On Thursday, September 23, Patriarch of the Armenians of Turkey, Sahak II, paid a courtesy visit to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos of the Holy See at the Greek Patriarchate of İstanbul, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff Priest Hovagim Serovpyan, Deputy Patriarch Senior Father Krikor Damadyan and Father Şirvan Mürzyan.
At the entrance of the Patriarchate, Patriarch Sahak II and his entourage were greeted by a group of priests headed by the Chief Priest Theodoros, the Chief of the Private Secretary, and first they prayed in the Ayia Yorgi Cathedral, and then they met with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos.
Celebrating the anniversary of the birth of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos and the consecration of the Priest, Patriarch Sahak II also thanked Patriarch Bartholomew for the fraternal interest and concern shown to him during the days of discomfort during the surgery he had last month.
During the conversation, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos also wished a speedy recovery for Bedros Şirinoğlu, Chairman of the Board of the Surp Pırgiç Armenian Hospital Foundation, who had undergone an operation recently. During the meeting, ideas were also exchanged on current inter-church issues. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Patriarch Sahak II expressed their satisfaction for this meeting and wished for the continuation of these warm relations.
