The first meeting of Awakening Youth in 2020 took place on Saturday, January 4. Unforgettable moments were experienced in the event, which was held with the participation of young people from different churches of Istanbul. Yusuf Peker, one of the worship leaders of Dirisu Church led the time of worship and the meeting started with Turkish hymns and prayers.
The theater play “Live in me”, shot at SAT-7 TURK studios, was watched together. Young people born in January were given gifts and the attendees prayed for them.
Then, the ‘Prayer for a city every month’ section started, which is a Awakening Youth meeting classic. The city of this month was Kars. The attendees prayed under the guidance of Sinem Melis Yıldırım from the Bahçelievler Grace Church for the well-being and goodness of the city with a population of approximately 130 thousand and for the precious people and local administrators of Kars.
Zeki Ataker from Bible House Church preached: “I was crucified with Christ. I don’t live anymore. Christ lives in me. Now I continue to live my life in the body with faith in the Son of God, who loves me and sacrifices for me.” (Galatians 2:20). He emphasized how important it is to live for Jesus Christ in his preaching and to stand firmly in his words. “You love God more as you get to know Him, you want to know Him more as you love Him,” he added. He ended his speech saying that in his 22 years of service and faith that he had no regrets for recognizing Jesus Christ and serving Him, on the contrary, he wished he I could serve Him more. Then the meeting ended with the Hot Dog Pasta party.
It was announced that the next Istanbul Awakening Youth meeting will take place at the UG Hall on Saturday, February 1st at 16:00 with the participation of Adrienne Neusch and Pastor Volkan Er. Awakening Youth meetings are aimed at Christian youth and are open to all Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant young people. (SAT7 TURK / SMY)
