The sounds of prayer started to rise again in Iskenderun.
Within the scope of Covid-19 measures that cover the whole world, places of worship, where religious rituals were interrupted, started to reopen. In this context, the rituals started again after a long time at the St. Nichola Greek Orthodox Church in Iskenderun.
The church doors were opened to the congregation for the rituals that could not be held during Easter. On the first day of the places of worship opening, an Easter ceremony was held in the Iskenderun Orthodox Church. The Sacred Ceremony was conducted by Father Dimitri Yıldırım. Yıldırım was accompanied by Church Sacristans and church staff. A limited number of church members attended this ceremony.
It was made sure that people kept their masks on during the ritual, and that their temperatures were taken at the entrance of the church.
Holy Communion took place during the Sacred Rite but no one was given communion. The blessed breads were wrapped in bags.
At the end of the ritual, the icon, which was kept in the church during the Easter Period and symbolized the resurrection of Jesus Christ, was put in place with the chants of ‘Christ Kam-Hakkan Kam (Jesus is Risen-He is Truly Risen)’.
