İstanbul and Turkey’s Armenian Catholics’ Spiritual Chairman Archbishop Levon Zekiyan who presided over; a holy mass due to the “Appearance and Baptism of Christ”, in other words, “Epiphany Day” was held at the Taksim Surp Hovhan Vosgeperan Armenian Catholic Church on January 6, 2021.
The sacred ritual was accompanied by the head priest of Taksim Surp Hovhan Vosgeperan Church, Vartan Kazancıyan, head priest of Samatya Anarat Hığutyun Church, Abraham Fırat, Der Hagop Sargavak Minasyan, Der Haygaram Çekiç, Gisasargavak Jan Acemoğlu and the tibirs.
Within the scope of corona measures, while a limited number of participants were accepted in compliance with the Covid-19 rules, Surp Hovhan Choir performed hymns under the direction of Chief Zaven Agay.
Epiphany Day; It is the day when the birth of Jesus Christ was heralded by the three priest-kings Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar. These prophetic kings from the east bring Gold, Olibanum and Myrrh as gifts to the baby Jesus are celebrated in all Armenian Catholic Churches as the “Day of the Baptism and Appearance of Jesus Christ”.
