The Kars Kafkas University (KAU) research team, which has achieved an important success in terms of world history and archeology, found traces of 7,000 years of life very close to the region where Noah’s Ark landed.
The latest discovery made by KAU research teams once again revealed how important the Mount Ararat region is, with traces of life dating back 7,000 years to the area where the ship was located.
Making a statement on the subject, Head of Research and Faculty Member of Kafkas University Dr. Ayhan Yardımcıel underlined that this important discovery is also very important in terms of world history and archeology.
Yardımcıel said, “It has once again been revealed how rich the Mount Ararat region is at present. The pottery sherds and obsidian cutting tool found in an area very close to Noah’s Ark in the borders of Doğubayazıt Üzengili Village, which is the focus of attention of the people of the region and many local and foreign researchers, indicate that life existed in the region 6500 – 7000 years ago.”
He also said that with the Kalus Kurgan Site and Kalus Castle, which they discovered just at north of Doğubayazıt, they revealed that the history of the city of Doğubayazıt followed a period of about 5000 years, but with this latest discovery, they saw that the history of the city expanded between 6500 and 7000 years. He also pointed out that the people should protect their cultural assets. On the other hand, many experts and scientists from Turkey’s major universities such as Kars Kafkas University, Dokuz Eylül University, Marmara University, Istanbul Cerrahpaşa University, Gaziantep University, Samsun 19 Mayıs University, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Sinop University participated in the research.
