The Holy Cross Feast, called “Haçverast” celebrating the recapture of the “Holy Cross” on which Jesus Christ was crucified in 630, from the Persians, was also celebrated by Armenian Catholic churches on Sunday, September 12.
In the feast, which means the liberation of the Cross from captivity, its elevation and its re-glorification; This year, the Istanbul Armenian Catholic Community celebrated the Holy Cross Day with enthusiasm, with rites held at Büyükdere Surp Boğos Church, Büyükada Verapohumin Surp Asdvadzazin Church and Kadıköy Surp Levon Church.
According to the tradition of the Holy Cross Feast, consecration made with basil leaves and a limited number of participation was made due to the pandemic measures, but the traditional sharing meal, which was given after the ritual, could not be held as in previous years.
