The Armenian Apostolic Church continued to celebrate the Feast of the Virgin Mary, which is celebrated for 9 days, with the Holy Presentation Rites in Churches this week. On Sunday, August 23, Armenian Patriarch of Turkey His Beatitude Sahak II presided over the mass at the Surp Vartanants Church.
On Sunday, August 23 Armenian Patriarch of Turkey, His Beatitude Sahak II presided over the Holy Presentation Ceremony which was led by the Spiritual Board Chairman, High Priest Tatul Anuşyan at the Feriköy Vartanants Holy Armenian Apostolic Church. Deacons Vağarşak Seropyan, Sayat Çınaryan and Armenak Kazancıyan also served at the table of the Lord. The Vartanants Choir performed the hymns led by the conductor Adrusan Hallachyan.
In addition to paying attention to the measures taken due to the coronavirus and the attention of the believers in the church, the High Priest Tatul Anusyan meticulously paid attention to hygiene before proceeding to the distribution of the holy bread, which provided a peaceful approach to the Lord’s table. Following the communion distribution, Patriarch Sahak II preached on the sacredness of all women like the Virgin Mary and the importance of women for humanity. At the end of the ritual, Hokehankist (Ayin-i Rohani) prayers were prayed for all those who sleep in the Lord.

In his sermon in Turkish, Sahak II talked about the role of the Virgin Mary in the birth of Jesus Christ and the effects of the events that took place in that birth on our spiritual life.
