Leading religious tourism destinations in Türkiye were introduced at the seminar held at the Vatican’s Pontifical Lateran University.
In cooperation with the L’Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi affiliated with the Vatican, which organizes faith tourism tours, and Türkiye’s Culture and Promotion Consultancy, a seminar was held at the Pontifical Lateran University, where faith tourism destinations for Türkiye were discussed and new tours for 2024 were announced.
The seminar was attended by Türkiye’s Vatican Ambassador Ufuk Ulutaş, Türkiye’s Rome Embassy Culture and Promotion Counselor Rıza Haluk Söner, Hatay Mustafa Kemal University Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Ebru Fatma Fındık, Monsignor Romano Rossi and L’Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi Senior Manager Monsignor Remo Chiavarini.
5 different tour routes for Türkiye and TRNC
At the seminar, the tour program for 5 different routes covering some points in Türkiye and TRNC was also announced by L’Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi, which organizes faith tourism tours affiliated with the Vatican.
Accordingly, 4 different programs were introduced, covering tours to Istanbul, Pamukkale, Antalya, St. Nicholas and 7 churches of the early Christian period, a Cappadocia-Konya tour, a tour of Northern and Eastern Anatolia, a tour including some points from Istanbul and the Greek Cypriot side, mainly from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It was also shared that they were working on a tour covering only Istanbul and Jerusalem.
Monsignor Chiavarini also told reporters, “Going to Türkiye is not only important, it is fundamental. Because Türkiye is the place where Christianity truly developed and lived, and where the style of belief we have today was formed in the first centuries. Türkiye deserves this attention. Those who have been to the “holy lands” (the land where Jesus Christ was born and lived) should go to Türkiye. “This is what is natural,” he said.
