Many Christians from Mardin and surrounding provinces came together to celebrate Christmas at the Mardin Protestant Church. The Christmas service was led by the church’s Pastor Ender Peker.
Speaking to the Rûdaw news site, Pastor Peker stated the following:
“Since Jesus Christ was born on the night of December 24 towards December 25, Christians celebrate this night as a holiday. On the other hand, many non-Christian citizens also attended Christmas. The participants celebrated the holiday of their neighbors by accompanying religious hymns.
A believer who is a member of the church said, “We celebrate our holiday for Christ every year. He is our savior. It’s his birthday.”
According to available data, approximately 40 thousand Protestant Christians live in Türkiye and there are 150 Protestant churches.
