As in many cities of the world, the birth of Jesus Christ in Istanbul was celebrated by the Midnight – vigil celebration. The celebration which took place in the Holy Spirit Cathedral is presided by Bishop Ruben Tierrablanca.
Before the mass, the church choir sang the French Christmas hymns.
The celebration started at the midnight and while the Gospel related to the birth of Jesus Christ was being read, all the lights of the church were turned on and the church was fully illuminated, symbolizing the incarnation of Jesus Christ in our world.
Mgr Ruben Tierrablanca, the Bishop of Istanbul Latin Catholic Community preached in French, English and Turkish.
