Ismail Cem Halavurt, the attorney of the American Pastor Andrew Craig Brunson, who was kept under house arrest in Izmir, appealed to the Constitutional Court yesterday.
Brunson’s lawyer İsmail Cem Halavurt, who came to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, sent an application form to the Constitutional Court with the same request following the rejection of his objection by the Heavy Penal Courts in İzmir for the removal of the decision of “house arrest and exit ban from Turkey” of the Pastor Brunson.
In the application, it was demanded the examination of the demand of Brunson. The petition stated: “The applicant was directly harmed by the violation of the Constitution and the ECHR. The case against the applicant is still pending and the applicant has not been able to enjoy his right to freedom of person for more than 2 years.”
The application is requesting the abolition of house arrest. It is also stating that the detention of Brunson under house arrest was unlawful and the Article 5 of the Constitution is being violated.
On October 12, a third hearing will be held for Brunson.
