Beyoğlu Surp Yerrortutyun (Three Horan) Church, which has been under renovation for a long time, was anointed and consecrated by the hand of the Patriarch of the Armenians of Turkey, Sahak II, on Friday, February 18 and reopened for worship.
The ceremony, in which a small number of believers and priests, Fathers, Deacons, senior readers, readers, Religious Officer of the Church, Priest Şınork Donikyan, President of Beyoğlu Churches Foundation Lawyer Simon Çekem, Foundation board members who are attached to the office of the Patriarchate of Armenians of Turkey were present, started with the “patz mez der” (Open to us God) hymn, the door was knocked three times by His Beatitude the Patriarch, then the clergy and believers of the patriarchal office, especially His Beatitude the Patriarch, entered the church.
After the prayers recited during the ceremony, Patriarch Sahak II anointed the church altars, baptismal pool, images of saints with “surp muron” (holy oil), accompanied by prayers and hymns sung by the priests. Afterwards, the cortege leaving the church passed to the Surp Minas Madur (Chapel) next door, which was anointed and consecrated by His Beatitude the Patriarch. Then they entered the Church again. Evening prayers were read after the consecration ceremony.
Afterwards, Patriarch Kadasetli Sahak II preached in Armenian and Turkish.
After the sermons, the ceremony ended with the Lord’s prayer and the final blessing of His Beatitude the Patriarch.
Then, all the clergy who attended the ceremony for the remembrance of the day, the members of the Beyoğlu Churches Foundation Board of Directors, the teachers and students of the Esayan school, the members of the Asoğik choir of the Church had photographs taken with the Patriarch Sahak II.
Then it was passed to the Naregyan hall of the Church. Here, meals were served to His Beatitude the Patriarch and the clergy by the Board of the Church Foundation. During the meal, which started with the prayer of Patriarch Sahak II, the head of Beyoğlu Churches Foundation, who presented a silver plate to His Beatitude the Patriarch, Attorney Simon Çekem, thanked His Beatitude the Patriarch for the moral support he always gave them during the renovation. His Beatitude the Patriarch once again thanked and congratulated all the members of the board of directors of the foundation and everyone who contributed to the renovation, in the presence of Attorney Simon Cekem.
In the following minutes, the priest of the Church, Priest Şınork Donikyan, gave a speech of thanks in Armenian. The invitation, which continued with conversations, ended with the prayer of His Beatitude the Patriarch.
