Statement by the Association of Protestant Churches

As the impact of the two devastating earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş continues in 10 provinces, Christians living in Turkey and other countries continue to deliver aid to the affected areas from the first day, regardless of sect or faith.

“We believe that we will overcome these difficult times with solidarity and prayer.”

The Association of Protestant Churches made a statement about the earthquake on its official website. The statement is as follows;

“We are deeply saddened by the severe earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş and affecting 10 provinces in our country. We extend our condolences and patience to our citizens who lost their lives, their relatives and families, and wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured. Our hope is that the good news will increase and these difficult days will soon be behind us. In these painful days of our country, we raise our prayers every moment and pray for the earthquake zone. We are trying to heal the wounds in coordination with our churches and associations and the necessary institutions in the disaster area. From the first day of the earthquake, we took our place in the region with many volunteer friends from all over our country. Volunteers play an active role in search and rescue operations, food distribution, health care and hygiene support. We believe that we will overcome these difficult times with solidarity and prayer.

We are grateful to all local and foreign organizations that have provided assistance from the first moment of our difficult days. Our unity is critical at this difficult time. We are grateful for your intense and selfless support. We are working sensitively to use these supports in the most accurate and appropriate way. Our hope is to heal and heal our wounds together with all your support. We express our deepest thanks.”
