“Commemoration Service” in Iskenderun for Those Who Lost Their Lives in the Earthquake

Bishop Arsenyos Dahdal also attended the commemoration service, the first of which was held at Iskenderun St. Corç Greek Orthodox Church.

A ‘Commemoration Service’ was held at St. Corç Greek Orthodox Church in Iskenderun for the members of the community who lost their lives in the earthquake disaster that occurred on February 6. The commemoration ceremony was led by Bishop Seyyidne Arsenyos Dahdal from the Antakya Patriarchate. Archimendrite Paul Orduluoğlu, Iskenderun Greek Orthodox Church Fathers Dimitri Yıldırım and Yusuf Nicholas Papasoğlu, and Antakya Orthodox Church Father Dimitri Doğu also accompanied the service.

Bishop Arsenyos Dahdal, who came to the Hatay Region as the representative of Patriarch John the 10th to attend the commemoration ceremonies to be held throughout Hatay on the anniversary of the February 6 Earthquake Disaster centered in Kahramanmaraş, first attended the ‘Commemoration Service’ held in Iskenderun.

Dahdal, who was in Iskenderun on Friday, attended the evening prayer of thanksgiving at St. Corç Church and then came together and chatted with members of the community. The ‘Commemoration Service’, the first of which was held in Iskenderun for the members of the community who lost their lives in the great disaster, was held on Saturday morning.

During the Memorial Service, the Bishop and all the priests prayed for intercession in front of the pictures of those who died in the earthquake and prayed for mercy on the souls of all those who died. After the holy mass, condolences were expressed for those who lost their lives in the great disaster, and then lunch was eaten with the participation of the community members who attended the mass.
