The Reverend Archbishop Levon Zekiyan, the Spiritual Head of the Armenian Catholic Community of Istanbul and Turkey, presided over the Holy Mass at the Assyrian Catholic Church in Mardin on Saturday, December 4th.
Many Christian communities living in Mardin accompanied the ceremony, which was held with the participation of the Mardin Surp Hovsep Armenian Catholic Church administrative committee and believers. After the service, Archbishop Levon Zekiyan, together with the Board of Trustees of the Mardin Armenian Catholic Church (İbrahim Uğurgel, Mansur Uğurgel, Edip Uğurgel, Faruk Uğurgel), visited local government and church officials and Father Gabriel Akkurt.
Archbishop Zekiyan and his entourage held the consecration and opening ceremony of the Diyarbakır Surp Hovsep Armenian Catholic Church on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Mass was attended by many believers, and the Holy Mass was served by the readers of the Vosgeperan Church and members of Tbrats Tas.
Archbishop Levon Zekiyan was accompanied by members of the Taksim Surp Hovhan Vosgeperan Church Tbrats Tas, readers and believers in his services in Mardin and Diyarbakır. Archbishop Zekiyan thanked the local and state authorities for the completion of the restoration and reopening of the church in Diyarbakir, and expressed his project to serve a Holy Mass in this church every year.
