The Awakening Youth Meeting, which takes place with the participation of young people from different churches in Istanbul, was reorganized on 1st February. The meeting started with Turkish hymns and prayer time led by Çiğdem Alan from the Yaşam Aile Church.
The theater play entitled “Awareness of idols of our lives, using our time and talents for God” was performed in the beginning of the event. Then, the young people who were born in February were given gifts and a blessed by Pastor Volkan Er.
“Prayer for a city every month”, which is a Awakening Youth classic, was launched. The city of this month was Elazig, which was affected by the earthquake. The youth prayed for the well-being of the city with a population of approximately 600 thousand and especially for the earthquake victims, with the guidance of Sinem Melis Yıldırım from Bahçelievler Grace Church.
Pastor Volkan Er preached focusing on the 6th chapter of the book of Isaiah. The meeting of Isaiah with God, the meaning of the call for service and its importance for us today were mentioned. It was emphasized that meeting with God is a turning point in our life of faith and service, and that every person who encounters God’s holiness, strength and glory will understand how sinful and weak he is. For this, it is stated that every young believer needs a real encounter with God like Isaiah. The preaching ended with a prayer.
The meeting ended with a cocktail.
It was announced that the next Istanbul Awakening Youth meeting will take place on Saturday, March 7 at 16:00 in the UG Hall.
Awakening Youth meetings are for Christian youth and are open to all Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant young people. (SAT-7 TÜRK/ SMY)
