General Secretary Joachim was elected Metropolitan of Bursa by the Ecumenical Patriarchate Holy Assembly.
Also, the Ecumenical Patriarchate of the Holy Council elected Andreas the Great Protosyncellus as the new Metropolitan of the Forty Churches.
The Ecumenical Patriarch also explained:
- Grand Archdeacon Theodore elected Protosyncellus of the Patriarchal Court,
- Deacon Paisios Kokkinakis, Director of the Special Patriarchate Office, was promoted to the title of Grand Archdeacon,
- Grand priest Aetios was appointed as the new director of the Special Chamber of the Patriarchal Court.
According to the decision of the Holy Assembly of the Ecumenical Patriarchate,
- Under-Secretary Deacon Grigorios Fraggakis promoted to Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod,
- The synodal secretary, Deacon Vosporios Magkafas, became Undersecretary and
- Patriarchal Deacon Ecumenios Amanatidis has been appointed to fulfill the duties of Synodal clerk until further notice.
The three-day meeting of the Holy Assembly of the Ecumenical Patriarchate took place from Wednesday, March 17 to Friday, March 19, 2021, under the chairmanship of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
