On Saturday, January 1, at the Kumkapı Dışı Surp Harutyun Church, In the ceremony presided over the Patriarch of the Armenians of Turkey Sahak II, the first Holy Offering (Surp Badarak) of 2022 took place.
Church deacons and readers served the table of the Lord in the Holy Mass, which was held by the religious officer of the church, Natan Arabian.
In addition to Father Zakar Koparyan, the administrators of the Surp Harutyun church foundation, some church foundation managers and believers were also present at the ceremony.
At the ceremony, which was broadcast live on the Patriarchate’s Facebook page, the church’s Varvaryan choir, Kumkapı Surp Asdvadzadzin Church Koğtan Choir and Feriköy Surp Vartanants Church Choir members sang together under the direction of Chief Hovsep Kuyumcuyan.
At the end of the Holy Sermon, His Beatitude the Patriarch delivered the first sermon of 2022 in Armenian and Turkish.
After the sermons, His Beatitude the Patriarch Sahak II blessed the traditional symbol of fertility, pomegranate. Then, the ceremony ended with the final blessing of His Beatitude the Patriarch and the Lord’s prayer said together.
