The “God, Disabled People and the Church” Seminar was organized by the Anatolian Protestant Church on Saturday, September 16.
In the seminar, guiding and Bible-based information was given on topics such as people with disabilities from God’s perspective and how we can serve the disabled people we encounter in daily life or in church.
The first speaker gave a speech on the topic: “What does the Bible say about disabled people?” and gave examples from the Old Testament section of the Bible. He gave an example that Moses had a speech impediment that made him insecure about serving the Lord; but God reminded him that He would be with him.
Second speaker talked about the issue of; “As Christians, what should be our attitude towards disabled people?”
Explaining that 75% of Jesus Christ’s services in the Bible were for disabled people, the second speaker emphasized that disabled people were among the most excluded and rejected people in society at that time, but Jesus Christ saw them, loved them, and healed both their physical and spiritual situations.
The third speaker touched upon the question; “How can we serve families with disabilities in our church and in our community?”
He said that churches that include disabled people can be established, and for this to happen, the hearts of churches must be open to disabled people. He stated that it is very important to inform people in churches and sermons focusing on disabled people can be planned in churches every year.
