The Armenian community in Iskenderun was very happy because of the Palm Sunday (Zağgazart), representing the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem with the ‘Olive and Palm Branches’.
Iskenderun Karasun Manuk Armenian Church was adorned with olive and palm branches for this special day. The celebration was led by the Parish Priest Rev. Avedis Tabashyan. During his sermon, Rev. Tabaşyan said: “Today we are celebrating the ‘Zağgazart’ feast with great enthusiasm. After the week of Zağgazart, we will celebrate the eve of Easter Sunday, the Resurrection Day of our Lord Jesus. May this feast of ‘Zağgazart’ which we celebrate bring love, peace and hope to all of our hearts, good news to our homes and peace to the world.” Following the sermon given, the Armenian community, after praying with candles, took the olive branches to their homes at the end of the mass from the hands of Father Avedis Tabaşyan.
