Icons and Furniture in Churches Were Protected
The icons and furniture of the St. Elijah Greek Orthodox Church and the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in the Samandağ district of Hatay were evacuated. After the evacuation process, which was carried out in cooperation, the icons and church materials were taken under protection.
The valuable icons and furniture in the Greek Orthodox Churches in Samandağ, which were affected -and some of them were seriously damaged- by the earthquake disaster on February 6, known as the Disaster of the Century, were evacuated as a result of joint work. Young people and children from the community also helped in the evacuation process, which was carried out under the leadership of the Church Foundation management and leading figures of the community.
