In the Annunciation Latin Catholic Church in the Iskenderun district of Hatay, the ‘Annunciation Feast’ and at the same time the ‘Name Feast’ of the church was celebrated with a special ceremony. While it was remembered that the “Word was born as a body” in the ceremony, which was held with the participation of a small number of congregation members, it was emphasized that this holiday was a big one.
A special ceremony was held in the Iskenderun Catholic Church, under the leadership of the Church’s High Priest, Dariusz Dogondke (Daryuş Dogonke), on the occasion of the Annunciation Day celebrated on March 25 every year, as well as the name day of the Iskenderun Annunciation Latin Catholic Church.
In this special ceremony, which was held within the framework of the Covid-19 measures and attended by a small number of congregation members, the Bible chapters about the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary by the Angel Gabriel were read.
Reminding that the Word was born as a body, Father Dogondke also emphasized that this holiday is a great holiday and drew attention to the fact that the Annunciation Feast is celebrated because of the “Annunciation of the Birth of Jesus Christ” given by the Angel to Mary.
Dogonke; “The good news that the angel gave to Mary is the good news of the birth of Jesus Christ. The angel came to him; ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, he will be called ‘Son of the Most High’. Mary said, ‘I am the servant of the Lord. “Let it be as you say to me,” he replied.
