Aram Gülyüz, one of the leading names of the Turkish cinema passed away on Saturday, September 1st. A big crowd bid farewell to the 87-year-old director.
The master director was buried next to his wife Gönül Gülyüz in a ceremony held in the Armenian Cemetery in Şişli. At the funeral ceremony, Aram Gülyüz’s sister Rita Hisarlı and his sons Ferdi and Arda Gülyüz were present. Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Haluk Dursun and the Director of Istanbul Provincial Culture and Tourism Office Dr. Coşkun Yılmaz, the President of the Topkapi Museum Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sabri Küçükaşçı and famous artists such as Nuri Alço, Müjdat Gezen, Türker İnanoğlu, Selda Alkor, Gürgen Öz, Gürkan Uygun, Volkan Severcan and Kirkor Dinçkayıkçı attended the funeral.
Rev. Tatul Anushian from the Armenian Apostolic Church led the ceremony.
Aram Gülyüz started to this professional life in cinema in 1958. He has been the director of many popular productions, including the famous serial of 90’s, Yasemince and about 200 various serials and films. Gülyüz passed away on September 1st due to a heart attack.
