Great Britain Ambassador Dominick Chilcott visited the Laodicea ancient city ruins, one of seven churches which was established during the Roman Empire. He said “I think this ancient city reflects the tolerance of Turkey”.
Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey Christian Berger and the ambassadors of UE countries serving in Ankara continue their journey in Denizli. Berger and the Ambassors whom he accompanied visited the ancient church ruins in Laodicea, one of the seven churches mentioned in the Bible. The archeologists working in the area gave explanations to the visitors.
Ambassador Chilcott said “Faith tourism emerges an alternative tourism area. The preservation of Late Byzantine and Late Roman churches is a great legacy. These places pull many tourists who would like to come because of their faith.Turkey can host more pilgrims if it can preserve such places. I think this is very positive. At the same time I think it reflects the tolerance of Turkey.”
