On the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the death of the late Patriarch Mesrob II, a memoir was published by the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey.
The statement made on the Patriarchate’s Facebook page is as follows;
”With the blessings and instructions of His Holiness the Patriarch Sahak II, a memoir was published on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of His Holiness’s the late Patriarch Mesrob II’s death within the scope of the Patriarchate.
The book begins with a large picture of His Holiness the late Patriarch Mesrob II and his biography, and burial notice. In the book prepared for publication by Priest Hovagim Seropyan, “ There is also an introduction with the title “A modest bunch in memory of His Holiness Deceased Patriarch Mesrob II.”
The 384-page, 21×21 cm book contains letters written in the process that started with the death of the late Patriarch and continued until the 40th day of his death, in the entries in the memory book, there are long or short articles in Armenian or other languages on the internet or in the press.
The introduction to the book states: “We thought that the best way to commemorate someone like Patriarch Mesrob who cares about writing and books would be to publishing a book and add another book to the 500-year history of Armenian printed publishing. In this context, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the death of Patriarch Mesrob, with the blessings and instructions of His Holiness, the Patriarch Sahak II, Armenians of Turkey Patriarchate, has prepared this book in order to honor the cherished memory of one of its famous patriarchs.”
In order to remind the late Patriarch, whom the Armenian Church and especially the Armenian Community of Istanbul remember with longing, there is a rich album at the end of the articles that reflects various parts of his life.
At the end of the book, During his beatitude the Patriarch Sahak II’s episcopate, the sermon in the Holy Liturgy, presented on the occasion of the fortieth day of Patriarch Mesrob’s death, takes place as a closing speech.
While the cover design of the book is done by Aris Karafil, there is a painting by painter-sculptor Erol Sarafyan on the cover.
The purpose of this book is to commemorate Patriarch Mesrob once again and to keep his memory alive.
It will not be possible to organize a launch day for the book at this time, given the restrictions during the pandemic. However, when sanitary conditions are suitable for a similar meeting, a launch day will be organized and introduced to book-loving members of our congregation. After the launch day to be announced in the coming days, those who wish can obtain the book from the Patriarchate.
