Istanbul Apostolic Representative His Excellency Monsignor Massimiliano Palinuro paid his first official visit to Taksim Aya Triada Church on Sunday, April 3, with the priests accompanying him and members of the Istanbul Latin Catholic Church community.
Within the framework of the Synod preparations for the Synodality, which Pope Francis started on October 10, 2021, a meeting was held with the Greek Orthodox Church of Istanbul on the day of Vikarya, within the scope of the Synod Preparations, which started at the local churches with an episcopate level.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the meeting. Clergy, monks and believers also attended the meeting, along with the Most Reverend Metropolitan Andreas, the Reverend Metropolitans and Reverend Father Aetios, as well as the Most Reverend Monsignor Ramzi Garmou, the Chaldean Archbishop.
After prayers and hymns, Ecclesiarc the Great, Reverend Father Aetios gave his lecture on Synodality.
At the meeting, Patriarch Bartholomew presented a Cross to the Latin Catholic Bishop of Istanbul, Monsignor Massimilano, while Monsignor Massimilano presented His Beatitude the Patriarch a “Good Shepherd” icon.
Monsignor Massimiliano began his speech with a sentence from the Bible, the Psalms.
At the end of the meeting, Monsignor Massimiliano presented the book written about 23rd Pope John (Giuseppe Roncalli), who had served in Istanbul for 10 years, to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the clergy in his presidency. Patriarch Bartholomew also presented an icon as a souvenir to the people who attended the meeting.
